2022 Reserve Chardonnay
Growing Season
The 2021 growing season on the West Coast was a return to a more normal year even though drought situation persists. The Mast Vineyard which grows the Chardonnay we get every year from Napa Valley is on the Silverado Trail very close to the Grower’s home, farm shop and the city of Napa proper. Unlike in 2020, no fires threatened the growing and ripening season. Harvest was near the middle of September, closer to normal in spite of drought conditions.
Tasting Notes
The style of wine the winemaker cut his teeth on, barrel fermented Chardonnay is as classic as American apple pie. This vintage exhibits aromas of creamy lemon custard, butterscotch and peach chutney on the nose. On the palate flavors of caramel, candied almonds, pie crust, apple pie filling and vanilla bean lead to a weighty finish classic for the style. A lingering finish with many nuances, this wine is perfect for your end of the year holiday festivities and sturdy enough to sustain all winter long.
Pair with chicken picatta, roasted vegetables or a traditional roast turkey dinner with dressing
